The little girl seriously injured in a recent high profile incident involving 3 Rottweiler dogs, has plead for the animals to be spared.
Speaking from the city's Ninewells hospital, Rhianna's dad Neil Kidd said: "She did not want the rottweilers that savaged her put down. She's an animal lover and felt sorry for them."
But three animals, including a puppy, were destroyed by a vet.
Neil, 32, said that Rhianna's surgery had been successful but she was still in pain and could suffer mental scars.
Note: The above link contains the well worn tabloid favourite phrase 'devil dogs'.
the dogs should not have been put down, especially the pup who will have just followed the adults. The owners should be fines, imprisoned, and numerous other legal implications placed on them, as its the owners responsibility to control their dogs, the dogs without control, or training will act potentially aggressively out of fear, protection or territoriality. As usual the ‘breed’ is being deamonised when its the useless owners who have no control, and allow their dogs to roam unsupervised. As usual its the animals that suffe and the owners will just go out buy more dogs wo will still be untrained and uncontrolled. The wishes of the ‘victim’ should have been taken into account, and although dog attacks are bad, unprovoked attacks are rare, and even if we don’t understand whats going on in the dogs mind, the dogs will have had a reason for behaving the way they did, in their mind at least. Dogs aren’t naturally aggressive, its humans that make them this way!
