Crufts Breeders Convicted of Animal Abuse, Allowed to Keep Dogs

Two dog breeders have been allowed to continue keeping animals despite being convicted of what has been described as a 'shocking' case of animal abuse.

The breeders, a mother and her daughter, were active on the dog show circuit and have exhibited previously at Crufts dog show. They were convicted following an RSPCA investigation, the police and the local authority in Bradford, UK.

"This was the biggest case of animal mistreatment we have ever dealt with and the scale and severity of it was deeply shocking", said Ghazanfer Khaliq, a member of Bradford Council

"The conditions inside the Humes' property were, frankly, horrific and our officers were appalled by the way the dogs were being kept.

"With the help of the RSPCA, police, kennels and our veterinary consultant, thankfully we were able to rehouse 67 animals in what was essentially a rescue operation.

"Animals should be treated fairly and with care and the Humes were doing the exact opposite."
